Dodgers Highlights: Yasiel Puig Makes Diving Catch For Start Of Double Play, Kyle Farmer Hits Game-Winning Double

Clayton Kershaw lived up to his reputation as a giant slayer at AT&T Park, Kyle Farmer delivered yet again against the Los Angeles Dodgers’ longtime rival, and Yasiel Puig produced yet another stellar diving catch in an extra-innings win against the San Francisco Giants.

The 2-1 victory in 10 innings snapped a four-game losing streak and gave the Dodgers their first and only win of a five-game road trip. Matt Kemp’s RBI single in the fourth inning broke a scoreless tie and was upheld until the bottom of the eighth.

Kershaw retired the first four batters faced, then stranded Evan Longoria in the second inning after his one-out double. That was part of a stretch that saw the three-time Cy Young Award winner set down 12 in a row.

Gorkys Hernandez snapped that stretch with a base hit to left field, and Austin Jackson followed suit to put two on with one out in the bottom of the sixth.

Joe Panik swung at Kershaw’s first offering, sending a sinking line drive to right field that Puig dove for to start an inning-ending double play.

Kershaw was lifted after allowing back-to-back soft singles in the bottom of the eighth. J.T. Chargois was unable to preserve the Dodgers’ 1-0 lead as Buster Posey greeted him with an RBI base hit.

The game went into extra innings and with two outs in the 10th inning, Farmer pinch-hit for Josh Fields. He sent a 3-1 pitch into right field for what proved to be a game-winning RBI double.

The table is set.

Last season, Farmer made his MLB debut against the Giants, also with a pinch-hit appearance. That evening at Dodger Stadium, he shot a walk-off double down the first-base line. Hunter Pence singled with one out in the bottom of the 10th, but Kenley Jansen otherwise struck out the side to convert the save opportunity.
