The Los Angeles Dodgers continued to put on a power display at American Family Field by hitting four home runs in a 7-2 win over the Milwaukee Brewers.

Their offensive explosion began with Will Smith’s solo home run in the second inning that put L.A. ahead 1-0. The home run was Smith’s first since July 6 as he’s been mired in a prolonged skid.

Smith finished the night 3-for-4 and a triple shy of hitting for the cycle.

Shohei Ohtani added onto the Dodgers’ lead in the second inning with his National League-leading 37th home run and second of the series. Whereas Ohtani went to the opposite field on Monday night, he pulled a solo shot to the second deck in right field on Tuesday.

After the Dodgers saw their lead cut in half because of a William Contreras solo homer, Gavin Lux created more separation with his two-run blast in the fourth inning that was hit to nearly the same spot as Ohtani’s drive. The home run was Lux’s second of his career in his home state.

Kiké Hernández contributed with a sacrifice fly and Andy Pages’ two-run homer capped off the big inning. The Dodgers have 10 games this season with at least four home runs, which leads the Majors.

Gavin Stone bounced back from a string of subpar starts by holding the Brewers to just one run over five innings. He allowed only three hits and collected six strikeouts without issuing a walk.

Landon Knack gave the Dodgers bullpen a night off by completing a four-inning save. The save was Knack’s first of his career. While the right-hander provided immense value as a long reliever, he’s now likely to get optioned for Walker Buehler’s return on Wednesday.

Dodgers win season series

Regardless of what happens over the next two games, the Dodgers clinched the season series against the Brewers. That could become of note if the teams continue jostling for playoff seeding in the NL bracket.

The Dodgers are currently in the midst of their second five-game winning streak since the All-Star break. It’s their third-best stretch of the season, trailing a seven-game winning streak (May 1-8) and six in a row (April 21-27).
