Dodgers Highlights: Max Muncy Hits Walk-Off Home Run, Will Smith Also Goes Deep In Win Over Blue Jays

The Los Angeles Dodgers defeated the Toronto Blue Jays for the second straight night, relying on more power but needing extra innings to earn a 2-1 walk-off win.

The Dodgers slugged 15 hits and 16 runs in the series opener in a rout of the Blue Jays but Wednesday was much different. The only run in the first eight innings of the game came on a home run from Will Smith in the bottom of the fourth.

Smith’s 12th home run in limited time with the Dodgers clanged halfway up the left-field foul pole. He also went deep 20 times with Triple-A Oklahoma City, giving Smith 32 total homers this year.

That 1-0 lead held until the ninth inning when Kenley Jansen came in looking for his 27th save of the season. Unfortunately, he was not able to convert, allowing a solo home run to Rowdy Tellez to tie the game at one and eventually send it to extra innings.

Walk-offs have been plentiful for the Dodgers this season, and that was again the case on Wednesday. This time it was Max Muncy’s turn as he launched a home run off Tim Mayza in the bottom of the 10th inning to earn the club’s 11th walk-off.

Muncy has been swinging a hot bat as of late, homering in a career-best five straight games to give him 33 on the season. The home run also extended his hitting streak to nine games.

On the mound for the Dodgers, Walker Buehler turned in another brilliant outing at Dodger Stadium. He has been almost unhittable at home this season, and that was again the case as he tossed seven shutout innings while allowing just five hits.

Buehler struck out eight without issuing any walks but unfortunately was robbed of a win due to the blown save.
