The Los Angeles Dodgers continued to put together quality at-bats and they overcame an early deficit to earn an 8-2 win against the Cincinnati Reds. The Dodgers now head into an early afternoon matchup at Great American Ball Park with an opportunity to complete a series sweep.

Doing so would amount to the Dodgers winning all seven games against the Reds this season. As it currently stands, L.A. has won eight in a row over Cincinnati, dating back to last year and are 14-4 since the 2018 season.

After the Dodgers fell into a 3-0 deficit, Will Smith’s RBI single in the third inning cut into the deficit. Then in the fifth, Freddie Freeman’s single brought in Gavin Lux after his leadoff double.

Chris Taylor was later hit by a pitch with the bases loaded and Justin Turner’s sacrifice fly put the Dodgers ahead 4-3.

Albert Almora Jr. hit his second home run of the series in the bottom of the fifth to tie the game, but Freeman then put the Dodgers back ahead with his own long ball to lead off the seventh inning.

Trayce Thompson’s first hit since being back with the Dodgers was a two-run double in the eighth to provide some insurance, and Trea Turner added a sacrifice fly. Turner’s hitting streak was snapped at 13 games in the win.

Dodgers defense, bullpen backs Anderson

Similar to Tony Gonsolin in the series opener, Tyler Anderson pitched through some trouble over his five innings of work. He allowed four runs (three earned) and was aided by Chris Taylor throwing out Jonathan India at home plate for an inning-ending double play in the fifth.

Once the ball was handed to the Dodgers bullpen, Alex Vesia, Yency Almonte, Daniel Hudson and Craig Kimbrel each tossed a scoreless inning.
