The Los Angeles Dodgers persevered through a rain-filled night to defeat the San Francisco Giants in extra innings with a 4-3 victory that completed a series sweep at Oracle Park.

Justin Turner gave the Dodgers the lead in the fourth inning with an RBI double that scored Freddie Freeman and extended his career high with 36 two-baggers in the season. Shortly after that, the game was delayed for 21 minutes due to the rain.

After the delay, the Giants tied the game on a throwing error from Trea Turner, but he made up for it in the next inning with a leadoff double. Freeman then followed with an RBI single to put the Dodgers back in front, 2-1.

The Giants came back to tie it once again in the eighth inning when J.D. Davis hit a double to bring in Heliot Ramos, and that score remained until extra innings.

Mookie Betts doubled in the 10th inning to drive in Cody Bellinger, and the Dodgers added another when Max Muncy walked with the bases loaded, extending their lead to 4-2.

Andre Jackson attempted to close out the game for the Dodgers, but he gave up an RBI single to Wilmer Flores and was replaced by Justin Bruihl with two outs and a one-run lead. Bruihl followed by retiring LaMonte Wade Jr. to end the game and complete the thre-game sweep.

Dodgers magic numbers

With the win, the Dodgers’ magic number to clinch a bye in the Wild Card round dropped to one game, meaning a win on Monday night or the next St. Louis Cardinals loss would clinch their ticket to the National League Division Series.

Their magic number for the No. 1 seed in the NL is now seven, and it sits at 11 for home-field advantage through the World Series.
