Dodgers Highlights: Miguel Rojas & James Outman Home Runs Against Mariners

The Los Angeles Dodgers traded momentum swings with the Seattle Mariners en route to coming away with a 6-3 win in front of a playoff atmosphere at T-Mobile Park.

Bobby Miller and George Kirby were locked in a scoreless duel, that changed when Eugenio Suárez’s solo home run gave the Mariners a 1-0 lead in the fourth inning.

The Dodgers responded in the fifth on Miguel Rojas’ two-out home run that gave them a 2-1 lead. Max Muncy’s first triple of the season put L.A. up 3-1 and J.D. Martinez added a two-out RBI single.

Miller ran into some trouble in the bottom of the sixth as the first three batters reached safely, which included Teoscar Hernández hitting an RBI single. A double play brought in another run, but Miller was removed after allowing a two-out single.

Caleb Ferguson stemmed off the Mariners’ rally and the Dodgers added onto their lead in the eighth inning behind Martinez’s second two-out RBI single of the night. James Outman then delivered his 20th homer of the season in the ninth.

Outman became the 10th rookie in Dodgers franchise history to reach 20 home runs in one season.

That helped provide some breathing room for Evan Phillips, who faced runners at the corners and Hernández representing the tying run at the plate.

Phillips shook off some shakiness to strike out Hernández for his 23rd save of the season.

When can Dodgers clinch the NL West?

The Dodgers’ magic number to clinch the National League West is down to two, and they can wrap up the division as soon as Saturday.
