The Los Angeles Dodgers fell into a deficit but received home runs from Miguel Rojas and Chris Taylor before Freddie Freeman put them ahead in a 4-3 win against the Kansas City Royals.

Gavin Stone turned in another quality start as he got through seven innings. Stone pitched well early and settled back in after allowing a three-run home run to Salvador Perez in the fourth inning.

Perez ambushed a first-pitch slider for a majestic drive that carried 437 feet and to nearly the last row of the pavilion in left field.

Royals starter Cole Ragans retired the first 10 batters faced before Shohei Ohtani broke up the perfect game with a one-out single in the bottom of the fourth.

Nothing came of Ohtani’s single, but Rojas began the Dodgers’ comeback with a two-run home run in the fifth inning. Taylor followed that with his first homer of the season.

“In one moment, you think you might get no-hit, and the next moment you’re back in the ballgame,” Dodgers manager Dave Roberts said after his team’s 14th come-from-behind win of the year.

The game remained tied into the bottom of the eighth inning, when an errant pickoff throw allowed Mookie Betts to move into scoring position with one out. Ohtani was unable to take advantage, but Freeman lined what held as a game-winning RBI single into center field.

Miguel Rojas key to Dodgers winning

The Dodgers improved to 19-0 this season whenever Rojas gets a hit.

“I just feel like I’m doing my job,” Rojas said. “Hopefully I can continue to get hits every single night that I play so we get Ws.”
