The Los Angeles Dodgers had a lackluster performance on Wednesday night, falling 7-3 to the New York Mets to drop two out of the three games at Dodger Stadium.

There was one big highlight on the night for the Dodgers as first baseman Max Muncy hit a two-run home run off of Mets starter Zack Wheeler in the fourth inning. Muncy made enough contact that he almost hit it out of Dodger Stadium in right-center field.

The home run traveled 443 feet and was Muncy’s team-leading 32nd of the season as he continues he breakout 2018 campaign. Muncy knew it was gone as soon as he hit it, providing fans with another signature bat flip, via the Dodgers official Twitter account:

Muncy followed in his teammates Manny Machado’s and Kiké Hernandez’s footsteps. Machado also almost hit one out of Dodger Stadium when he was on the Baltimore Orioles in 2016. His blast was measured at 453 feet, while Hernandez hit one in 2016 that went 451 feet.

There have only been five players to ever hit a ball out of Dodger Stadium, with Giancarlo Stanton being the last when he hit a 475-foot blast as a member of the Miami Marlins in 2015.

The others to accomplish the feat are Mark McGwire (483 feet in 1999), Mike Piazza (478 feet in 1997) and Willie Stargell, twice (470 feet in 1973 and 506 feet in 1969).

Muncy has been perhaps the biggest surprise for the Dodgers in 2018, batting .254/.377/.587 with the 32 home runs and 62 RBI. After a short slump coming out of the All-Star break, Muncy has heated back up again, hitting six home runs in his last 16 games.
