Dodgers Highlights: Justin Turner 3-Run Home Run Helps Sweep Diamondbacks

The Los Angeles Dodgers finished off their homestand with a 5-3 win against the Arizona Diamondbacks to complete a series sweep. The Dodgers are on a five-game winning streak and have come from behind in each of those contests.

While the first four entailed the opponent scoring first, Wednesday saw L.A. take an early. Like has been the case of late, Mookie Betts and Freddie Freeman were at the center of supplying offense.

Betts opened the bottom of the first inning with a double that extended his hitting streak to seven games, and he scored when Freeman followed with an RBI single. Freeman has now reached base safely in 19 consecutive games.

The Diamondbacks scored a run in second and third innings to take a lead, but they ultimately weren’t able to hold that.

After a one-out double by Will Smith and Max Muncy’s single, Justin Turner lined a three-run home run to left field. The homer was Turner’s second in as many days and it gave him a team-leading 28 RBI on the season.

Turner was among the Dodgers who got off to a slow start this year but has swung the bat better of late. He’s attributed the turnaround to both finding a routine when in the lineup as a designated hitter and ironing out his swing mechanics.

Walker Buehler couldn’t replicate the complete-game shutout he threw at Chase Field last month, but still managed to hold the Diamondbacks to just two runs over five innings.

Buehler escaped a bases-loaded jam in the fifth inning, aided in party by Gavin Lux not allowing a single to roll into the outfield. While the infield hit loaded the bases, it kept the Diamondbacks off the board, and was followed by Buehler retiring the next three batters.

Buehler improved to 6-0 with a 2.07 ERA in 13 career starts against the Diamondbacks.

Arizona scored a run off Brusdar Graterol in the seventh inning, but the Dodgers bullpen otherwise held up. David Price stranded two runners in the seventh and worked a clean eighth inning as well.

Daniel Hudson converted his second save of the season.
