The Los Angeles Dodgers had a night to remember on Thursday as they slugged seven home runs and scored a Dodger-Stadium record 21 runs to beat the Milwaukee Brewers and earn a split of the four-game series.

It did not take long for the scoring to get started as Joc Pederson led off the bottom of the first inning by taking Brewers starter Jhoulys Chacin deep three-quarters of the way up the right-field pavilion.

That wasn’t Pederson’s only home run on the night though, as he went on to hit a three-run shot in the seventh inning to give him 16 homers on the season.

The Dodgers broke the game open by scoring five runs in the third inning, with four of them coming on one swing of the bat by Cody Bellinger when he hit a grand slam off the right field foul pole.

It had been exactly one full month since Bellinger last homered on July 2. Two of the Dodgers other four home runs on the night came off the bat of Yasiel Puig, who hit a solo bomb in the fourth and then one of the three-run variety in the seventh inning.

Other Dodgers to leave the ballpark included Brian Dozier, who has now gone deep in each of his two games since being acquired from the Minnesota Twins, and Justin Turner, who was playing in his first game since being activated off the disabled list due to a groin injury.

Clayton Kershaw turned in another strong start in the 21-5 victory, allowing just five hits and two runs in six innings while striking out seven and walking two to improve to 5-5 on the season. He is 4-1 with 2.33 ERA since coming off the disabled list.
