The Los Angeles Dodgers waited an additional 1 hours and 50 minutes to take the field because of a weather delay, and once the series finale began at Coors Field they stormed to a 14-3 win over the Colorado Rockies.

The Dodgers’ 14 runs and 18 hits both were good for season highs. The Rockies held a 3-2 lead through three innings before L.A. pulled away in emphatic fashion.

J.D. Martinez had a game-high four RBI, while Freddie Freeman and Max Muncy drove in three each. Mookie Betts continued to light the spark for the Dodgers lineup from the leadoff spot by going 2-for-2 with two doubles, one walk and a sacrifice fly.

Betts opened the game with a double that led to a gift run when Martinez’s fly ball to center field got lost in the lights and fell for an RBI single. Betts provided another spark with his leadoff double in the third as Martinez then hit a more traditional RBI single to put L.A. ahead.

The Dodgers began to pull away in the fourth inning as Jason Heyward’s leadoff double was followed by walks from Miguel Vargas and James Outman to load the bases. Betts’ sacrifice fly tied the game and Freeman hit an RBI single that knocked Chase Anderson out of the game.

Muncy greeted Peter Lambert with a two-run double to the gap and Martinez broke the game open with an opposite-field home run.

The Dodgers scored two more on Freeman’s single and Muncy’s RBI base hit after loading the bases in the fifth inning. Vargas’ triple brought a run home in the sixth, and the seventh inning saw Jonny DeLuca hit an RBI single and another run score when the Rockies couldn’t make a play on Heyward’s high chopper.

Freeman became the first Dodgers player with 100 hits, 50 RBI and 10 stolen bases before the month of July since the runs batted in stat was first tracked in 1920.

The Dodgers bullpen followed Emmet Sheehan with four scoreless innings. Sheehan held the Rockies to just three runs in his Coors Field debut.

Dodgers NL West standings update

At 45-35, the Dodgers are a half-game ahead of the San Francisco Giants and sit in second place of the National League West standings. The Arizona Diamondbacks, who like the Giants suffered a loss Thursday, still lead the division by two games.
