The Los Angeles Dodgers were faced with a tough task opening their homestand against the Arizona Diamondbacks with Zac Gallen on the mound, but four home runs carried them to another comeback victory.

Despite their need to eventually rally, it was the Dodgers who jumped out early with a three-run first inning. Freddie Freeman broke his home run drought with a solo shot to start the scoring.

After a single from Will Smith, Max Muncy continued his hot streak with a two-run blast, giving him 31 homers on the season. Muncy is now batting .333/.394/.667 in his last seven games, which has raised his average to .204 on the season.

The Diamondbacks answered with one run in the top of the second inning when Gabriel Moreno doubled to left field, scoring Christian Walker.

That score remained until the fourth inning when the D-Backs took the lead. Their rally began with a walk from Alek Thomas before Lourdes Gurriel Jr. doubled to cut the Dodgers’ lead to 3-2.

Moreno then came through again, hitting a two-run home run to give Arizona a 4-3 lead.

David Peralta singled to begin the bottom of the sixth inning and Jason Heyward hit his 12th long ball of the season to give the Dodgers a 5-4 lead. James Outman then made it back-to-back to extend the lead, and he also provided some insurance in the seventh with an RBI single.

Dodgers bullpen protects lead

Bobby Miller made the start and pitched six innings, giving up four runs on seven hits while striking out four and walking two. It wasn’t an ideal start, but he still earned the victory for his performance.

Following Miller, Alex Vesia and Ryan Brasier each pitched a scoreless inning to earn a hold. Caleb Ferguson was given the save opportunity and worked a perfect frame to secure the 7-4 victory.
