Dodgers Highlights: Cody Bellinger, Max Muncy Home Runs Against Rangers

After a poor showing in the series opener, the Los Angeles Dodgers bounced back Saturday night to earn a 7-4 victory over the Texas Rangers at Globe Life Field. Sunday’s series finale is a big one as the Dodgers are the only team in baseball to not lose a series yet this season.

The Dodgers got on the scoreboard first in the top of the second inning when Matt Beaty singled and then scored on a double down the left-field line by AJ Pollock. They then were able to add to that lead with two more runs in the third.

Max Muncy reached on a double to right, and then Cody Bellinger took Lance Lynn deep, his ninth home run of the season. Bellinger reached three times on the night, also walking twice as he continues to break out of his early-season slump.

The other Dodger to have a big night at the plate was Muncy. After Mookie Betts doubled in the fifth, Muncy drove him in with a sacrifice fly. That was his first of four RBI in the game as he also added a three-run homer in the seventh inning to put the game out of reach.

With the Dodgers leading 4-3, Betts walked and Corey Seager singled to set the stage for Muncy’s ninth home run of the season to make it 7-3. Much like Bellinger, Muncy has also come alive at the plate in recent weeks to make up for his slow start to the year.

Bullpen continues to be dominant

After Dodgers starter Ross Stripling only lasted four-plus innings, the bullpen was tasked with covering the final five, and they were up to the challenge.

Caleb Ferguson gave up an unearned run on an error by Seager, but that was the only blemish for the bullpen. Blake Treinen tossed 1.1 scoreless innings, Adam Kolarek got two outs, Brusdar Graterol went 1.1 scoreless frames and the Kenley Jansen completed his ninth save of the season by allowing just one hitter to reach base in the ninth.
