Freeway Series Highlights: Cody Bellinger, Albert Pujols Hit Home Runs In Dodgers’ Win Over Angels

The Los Angeles Dodgers again jumped out to an early lead over the L.A. Angels and rode that to an 8-2 victory in the rubber match of the Freeway Series at Dodger Stadium. The Dodgers finished 3-2 on their homestand and now embark on a six-game road trip.

Trea Turner continued to be a spark from the leadoff spot of the Dodgers’ lineup, starting the bottom of the first inning with a double. Max Muncy then beat the shift with an RBI single to give L.A. a 1-0 lead.

AJ Pollock followed that with a double, and Justin Turner reached on a fielder’s choice that scored Muncy because José Iglesias’ throw to home plate was high. That wound up being Turner’s only plate appearance as he was removed due to left groin discomfort.

Albert Pujols pinch-hit for Turner in the bottom of the second inning and extended the Dodgers’ lead with a two-run home run.

That came after Trea Turner scored from first base on Pollock’s soft single that went off David Fletcher’s glove and rolled into shallow left-center field.

Cody Bellinger fully broke the game open with a two-run home run in the seventh inning. That extended his hitting streak to six games and was a second homer in as many days.

Buehler keeps consistent for Dodgers

Although Walker Buehler tied a career high with four walks, he held the Angels to just one run over six innings. Buehler finished the day with eight strikeouts and has gone at least six innings in 22 of 23 starts this season.
