Dodgers Highlights: Back-To-Back Home Runs By Chris Taylor, Yasiel Power Victory Over Rockies

After a lackluster performance against the Colorado Rockies on Monday night to begin a 10-game homestand, the Los Angeles Dodgers bounced back with a 5-3 victory to avoid another losing streak.

The Dodgers offense demonstrated their patience against Rockies starter Chad Bettis in the first inning. Matt Kemp singled to drive home Justin Turner, and then back-to-back walks by Chris Taylor and Yasiel Puig led to another run scoring, giving the Dodgers a 2-0 lead.

That wasn’t the only time Taylor and Puig did something back-to-back on the night as they powered Los Angeles to rally in the bottom of the sixth inning.

Trailing 3-2, Kemp began the inning with another single. Then with one out, Taylor lined a two-run home run to left field off Rockies reliever Bryan Shaw to give the Dodgers a lead.

Puig followed with a home run of his own off Shaw, putting the Rockies in a 5-3 deficit that they were unable to crawl out of.

The home run was Puig’s fifth in his last eight games, after going without a home run in his first 28 contests of the season. Over that span, Puig has batted .318/.464/1.045.

Brock Stewart made his first start of the season and pitched well enough to keep the Dodgers in the game. He gave up five hits and two runs in four innings while striking out and walking one.

With all four of the other teams in the National League West losing on Tuesday, the Dodgers picked up a game on each and now are only 4.5 games back of the first-place Rockies.
