Dodgers Highlights: AJ Pollock, Mookie Betts Homer In Come-From-Behind Victory Over Giants

After a tough loss on Saturday night, the Los Angeles Dodgers were able to bounce back with a 6-2 come-from-behind win over the San Francisco Giants on Sunday afternoon to earn a series victory at Dodger Stadium.

The Dodgers’ offense was quiet through most of the game, and they found themselves trailing 2-0 going into the bottom of the seventh inning.

Cody Bellinger, who has struggled for much of the season, got a rally started with a one-out single up the middle, forcing the Giants to take out starter Kevin Gausman. It appeared the Dodgers just needed to get into the Giants bullpen as Justin Turner then singled up the middle as well, setting the stage for AJ Pollock.

Pollock originally thought he worked a walk, but he was called back to the plate as the umpire called it a strike to make it a 3-2 count. That wound up being for the best as Pollock crushed the next pitch he saw for a three-run home run to give the Dodgers a 3-2 lead.

“Our little cardboard cutout guys were going nuts today,” Pollock joked. “I couldn’t hear anything and I was trying to ask the umpire if it was a strike because I didn’t really hear anything. He was trying to talk to me, and I couldn’t hear him. It was just a mess. So that was kind of a weird situation. But it worked out really well.”

In limited action this season, Pollock is now tied for the team lead with four home runs while hitting .311/.354/.667.

The Dodgers then added some insurance in the bottom of the eighth on a three-run home run by Mookie Betts, his fourth of the season.

Buehler has best outing of young season

On the mound for the Dodgers was Walker Buehler, who was looking to get back on track after a couple of subpar starts to begin the season.

Buehler’s command was still a bit off, walking four in 5.2 innings, but he only allowed one hit and two runs while striking out six in his best outing of the year. While the righty still has a ways to go to get back to his 2019 form, Sunday certainly was a positive step in the right direction.

The bullpen was then flawless in relief of Buehler as Caleb Ferguson, Jake McGee, Blake Treinen and Kenley Jansen combined to toss 3.1 scoreless innings, allowing one hit and striking out five to complete the series win.
