Dodgers Highlights: AJ Pollock, Corey Seager Come Up Big In Win Over Padres

After dropping the series opener at Petco Park, the Los Angeles Dodgers got back on track Tuesday night with a 5-2 come-from-behind win over the San Diego Padres to improve to 8-4 on the season.

It took the Dodgers offense a little while to get going as Padres starter Dinelson Lamet carried a no-hitter into the sixth inning with his team leading 2-0.

After Justin Turner was hit by a pitch with two outs in the sixth, Cody Bellinger lined a single up the middle for L.A.’s first hit of the game.

Corey Seager then followed with a nine-pitch at-bat that ended in a single to center, scoring both runners to tie the game. Bellinger was running on the full-count pitch and when the ball was bobbled in center field, he kept going and slid in safely at home.

That marked the end of Lamet’s night as the righty went from cruising to a potential no-hitter to not making it out of the sixth inning.

The Dodgers then took the lead in the seventh when AJ Pollock sliced a two-out RBI double down the right-field line to score Austin Barnes, who reached on an error.

Pollock was coming off the bench as a pinch-hitter and had two pitches outside the strike zone called strikes in his at-bat, although he did not let it affect him and wound up with a run-scoring double instead of a walk.

After Chris Taylor added some insurance with an RBI single in the eighth, Pollock then put an exclamation point on the victory with a solo home run to dead center field in the ninth inning.

Pollock has been swinging a hot bat to begin the season, and after his third home run, he is now hitting .364/.417/.758 on the year.

May has career night on mound

The Dodgers also sent a young right-hander to the mound in Dustin May, and he was every bit as good as Lamet in his third start of the year.

May’s outing got off to a good start when he struck out two in a 1-2-3 first, including a wicked 99 mph two-seam fastball to get Manny Machado swinging to end it.

While May a solo home run and RBI double, he was in control pretty much all night, striking out a career-high eight batters in six innings of work. He allowed just three hits and a walk to go along with two runs, earning his first victory of the season.
