Dodgers Injury Update: Brusdar Graterol Unlikely To Pitch In 2025

Brusdar Graterol is among the Los Angeles Dodgers pitchers who haven’t been able to contribute this season due to injury.

Graterol began the year on the 60-day injured list after undergoing offseason surgery to repair the labrum in his right shoulder.

He was limited to just seven games last season because of hip and shoulder trouble, but wound up making three appearances against the New York Yankees in the World Series.

The Dodgers were hopeful Graterol would return after the All-Star break, but he never made much progress and is unlikely to pitch this year.

“No, it hasn’t gone as smoothly as he would like, as we would like,” president of baseball operations Andrew Friedman said of Graterol’s recovery.

“So it’s been hard to kind of ramp up the volume that he would need to get back. So my expectation is he will not be back this year.”

Friedman’s comments hardly were a surprise when considering what the Dodgers had previously shared.

Manager Dave Roberts suggested last month that Graterol was unlikely to return this season, noting that the right-hander hadn’t done much throwing to that point.

Graterol has spent most of his time rehabbing at Camelback Ranch but never advanced to pitching in a Minor League game.

Roberts was hopeful that if the 27-year-old made enough progress, he wouldn’t have needed a long rehab assignment before rejoining the Dodgers bullpen. Graterol did throw a bullpen session at Dodger Stadium on Sunday and may become a factor if the Dodgers play deep into October.

Brusdar Graterol’s 2026 outlook

Graterol is eligible for one more year of salary arbitration before potentially becoming a free agent after the 2026 season.

In parts of five seasons with the Dodgers, Graterol is 10-8 with a 2.69 ERA, 3.19 FIP and 1.03 WHIP over 181 innings pitched (178 games; five starts).
