The Los Angeles Dodgers made one pick on Day 1 of the 2021 MLB Draft, taking Maddux Bruns out of UMS-Wright Preparatory School in Alabama with the No. 29 overall selection in the first round.

It marked the first time the team took a high school left-handed pitcher in the first round since Clayton Kershaw in 2006. While Bruns verbally committed to play college ball for Mississippi State, he believes signing with the Dodgers is the more likely outcome.

The Dodgers did not have a second-round pick but still added a slew of players on Day 2 of the 2021 MLB Draft, making eight total selections from Rounds 3-10.

Round 3: Peter Heubeck, 101st pick

With the 101st overall pick in the third round, the Dodgers selected Peter Heubeck out of Gilman School. The right-hander went 8-2 with a 1.20 ERA and 101 innings in his senior campaign en route to earning 2021 Maryland Gatorade Player of the Year honors.

Heubeck, who verbally committed to Wake Forest, also shined at the plate as evidenced by his .333 batting average and nine RBI.

Round 4: Nick Nastrini, 131st pick

The Dodgers added their first college player with the 131st overall pick in the fourth round, selecting local product Nick Nastrini out of UCLA.

The right-hander is coming off a solid junior season for the Bruins in which he pitched to a 2-2 record and struck out 13.8 batters per nine innings over 12 games.

Round 5: Ben Casparius, 162nd pick

Pitching continued to be the theme in Round 5 for the Dodgers as they selected Ben Casparius out of the University of Connecticut with the 162nd overall pick.

The right-hander was named to the All-Big East Second Team and led the conference in several categories, including wins (8), innings pitched (91.2) and strikeouts (127).

Round 6: Emmet Sheehan, 192nd pick

With the 192nd overall pick in the sixth round, the Dodgers selected yet another college pitcher — Emmet Sheehan out of Boston College. The right-hander went 5-9 with a 106 strikeouts in 76.2 innings over 13 games.

Round 7: Ryan Sublette, 222nd pick

The Dodgers continued adding pitching depth in Round 7, selecting Ryan Sublette out of Texas Tech with the 222nd overall pick. The right-hander posted a 3.86 ERA and held opposing batters to a .194 batting average en route to being named to the Academic All-Big 12 First Team.

Round 8: Ben Harris, 252nd pick

With the 252nd overall pick in the eighth round, the Dodgers added their first left-handed pitcher on Day 2, selecting Ben Harris out of the University of Georgia. He finished 20 games for the Bulldogs and went 4-2 with a 2.33 ERA.

Round 9: Lael Lockhart, 282nd pick

L.A. selected another southpaw in Round 9, drafting Lael Lockhart out of the University of Arkansas with the 282nd overall pick. He went 3-3 and collected 68 strikeouts in 14 games, finishing his college career with a 9-13 record and 185 punch outs.

Round 10: Michael Hobbs, 312th pick

The Dodgers concluded Day 2 of the 2021 MLB Draft with the selection of Michael Hobbs out of St. Mary’s College in the 10th round (312th overall pick). The Corona, California native notched six saves and struck out 28 batters in 19 games for the Gaels.
