Several members of the Los Angeles Dodgers have reaped the benefits of winning the 2025 World Series, including manager Dave Roberts who was part of a contingent that appeared on “Jimmy Kimmel Live!”
Roberts followed that by making his way to Tuscaloosa for the rivalry game between the LSU Tigers and Alabama Crimson Tide. The highly-anticipated matchup was played in front of a capacity crowd at Bryant-Denny Stadium.
Roberts was shown on the sidelines during the ABC broadcast, dressed in a Crimson Tide pullover and cap.

During an episode of “Hey Coach” in the days leading up to Roberts’ visit, Alabama head coach Kalen DeBoer revealed he’s developed a friendship with the Dodgers’ manager and was rooting for the team in the World Series:
“He’s a pretty special person. Just developed a great relationship. Obviously he’s a manager, he runs an organization. And you talk about fight, right? Those guys kept fighting. I was certainly rooting for them, and it was good to see those guys pull that off.”
The day after Roberts spent time with the Crimson Tide, DeBoer offered further praise for how he keeps the Dodgers unified in pursuit of their ultimate goal.
Star wide receiver Ryan Williams went on to reveal Roberts spoke to the Crimson Tide team before they took the field against LSU and compared it to former legendary coach Nick Saban:
“It really caught us by surprise. Saturday morning before the game, we’re focusing on the game, and I think some of the guys didn’t know who he was until he started speaking, and it was almost like a Nick Saban moment. People started snapping and it was like, OK, we need to listen. He just gave us some words of encouragement and advice. That we’re basically in the same position that the [Dodgers] are in, and we’re always going to get everyone’s best. Just to focus on the game because the game will honor you. So just staying humble, staying grounded and continuing to focus on being in the moment.”
As Williams noted, Alabama faces yearly expectations that are akin to pressure on the Dodgers. That largely was created under Saban, who is regarded as the best head coach in college football history.
While the Crimson Tide came away with a win the night Roberts was in attendance, they suffered defeat one week later in a home loss to the Oklahoma Sooners.

Milwaukee Brewers skipper Pat Murphy was voted National League Manager of the Year for a second consecutive season. While it wasn’t necessarily an award Roberts had an inside track for, the 2025 season marked the first time he did not receive at least one vote for Manager of the Year.
