Blake Snell Reflects On ‘Unreal’ First Season With Dodgers

Weeks after winning the 2024 World Series, the Los Angeles Dodgers bolstered their starting rotation by signing Blake Snell to a five-year, $182 million contract.

He was going to be counted on to help lead the group of Dodgers starters this year, but Snell’s first season with the team included missing three months because of a left-shoulder injury. However, he ultimately played a key role in helping lead the Dodgers to a second consecutive World Series title.

Snell went 5-4 with a 2.35 ERA, 1.26 WHIP and 10.6 strikeouts per nine in 61.1 innings pitched across 11 starts this past season. He then turned in a 3-2 record with a 3.18 ERA, 1.00 WHIP and 10.9 strikeouts per nine in six playoff appearances (five starts).

Snell reflected on his first season with the Dodgers and is looking forward to an even better 2026.

Since helping the Dodgers win the 2025 World Series, Snell has been to multiple sporting events around Los Angeles.

He and several Dodgers teammates were recently recognized on the court at Crypto.com Arena before a Lakers game, and the left-hander also helped introduce the Kings starting lineup.

More recently, Snell attended a Rams game at SoFi Stadium and received a customized jersey while posing for a photo with the team’s mascot.

Potential team option on Blake Snell’s contract

Because he spent 119 days on the injured list due to left shoulder inflammation, the Dodgers potentially picked up a club option on Snell’s contract.

The team would obtain a $10 million club option for 2030 should Snell miss at least 90 days because of a specific injury and isn’t traded. It isn’t clear what injury the Dodgers were protecting themselves against, but it is likely related to the arm and/or shoulder.
