Athletics Vs. Dodgers Game Preview: J.D. Martinez Remains Out Of Lineup

The Los Angeles Dodgers are in position to earn their first — and only series win — on the current homestand as they look to notch a second consecutive victory against the Oakland Athletics.

The Dodgers are 3-4 on the homestand thus far, which began with series losses to the Toronto Blue Jays and Cincinnati Reds. One of their defeats was with Tony Gonsolin on the mound, and he looks to bounce back Wednesday night.

Gonsolin enters 5-4 with a 4.25 ERA and 1.14 WHIP through 16 starts this season. He’s fared marginally better at Dodger Stadium, going 4-2 but with a 4.91 ERA.

“The results have sucked and been what they are,” Gonsolin said after facing the Blue Jays. “I’m just trying to stay with the process and keep moving forward. I try not to worry about the results too much. I just try to stay with the process and keep it moving.”

The A’s counter with Hogan Harris, who is among their several pitchers to struggle this season. The rookie is 2-5 with a 6.07 ERA in 12 games (five starts).

Harris last pitched on July 26, when he allowed two runs on two hits over 3.1 innings out of the bullpen.

Harris faces a Dodgers lineup that again does not include J.D. Martinez as he continues to recover from an adductor/groin issue. Martinez is missing a third consecutive game because of the injury but has improved with the rest.

The Dodgers remain hopeful their veteran designated hitter will avoid the 10-day injured list.
