Andrew Friedman: Dodgers In A ‘Really Strong’ Financial Position

The Los Angeles Dodgers pulled off another stunner as they agreed to terms with Kyle Tucker on a four-year, $240 million contract that includes deferred salary and multiple opt-out clauses.

Tucker was the top free agent and fills an important need for the Dodgers in the outfield. He reportedly turned down offers from the Toronto Blue Jays and New York Mets to join a star-studded group in L.A.

Tucker is the second major free agent to sign with the Dodgers this offseason as the team previously added Edwin Díaz on a three-year, $69 million contract.

The Dodgers have shown a willingness to blow past any luxury tax threshold in order to sign the best available talent, which president of baseball operations Andrew Friedman attributed to the organization’s financial success, via Fabian Ardaya of The Athletic:

“We are in a really strong position right now, financially,” Friedman said last month. “If we were on a really tight budget, we probably wouldn’t allocate in the same way.”

The Dodgers are fortunate to have an ownership group that is committed to assembling the best possible roster each season, and that has translated to unprecedented success on the field.

The Dodgers are in the middle of a historic stretch that includes 13 consecutive playoff appearances, five National League pennants and three World Series championships.

L.A. has benefited from the unwavering support of their fans, who routinely sell out games at Dodger Stadium and on the road.

The club also brings in extra revenue from sponsorships and the presence of Shohei Ohtani, who is arguably the most popular baseball player in the world.

Andrew Friedman outlines Dodgers’ goals for 2026 season

Friedman recently outlined the Dodgers’ goals for the 2026 season, which include winning the National League West, earning a first-round bye into the Division Series and the pitching staff being effective on all levels.
