8th Annual Justin Turner Golf Classic: Supporting ‘The Great City Of Los Angeles’

Five months after having their signature event postponed due to a rare Southern California rainstorm, Justin and Kourtney Turner welcomed guests to Sherwood Country Club for the eighth annual Justin Turner Golf Classic.

“I was at the Rams-Dolphins game about a week ago, and they did a weather forecast in the middle of the game and said expecting rain this week. I about hit the floor,” Justin told DodgerBlue.com.

“I was like, ‘No way we’re going to get rain again. We’re just so thankful we have such a beautiful day out here. It was a little cold this morning. We got out here bright and early to set everything up, and there was some frost on the course but it’s warm enough now and it’s looking like we’re going to have a perfect day to go golf and raise a lot of money.”

All proceeds from the official Kickoff Party that was held Sunday night and the Justin Turner Golf Classic go toward the Justin Turner Foundation.

“It’s getting bigger and better every single year. I think the feedback that we get from golfers going through the line to get all their swag gets a little sweeter every year. And also the opportunity to show our supporters who come out to these events the impact that we can have,” Turner said.

“[Sunday] night we did an event and we were able to present two of our beneficiaries, the veterans program at the Dream Center; and Operation Mend, who we’re on the board for. We presented them both with $100,000 on behalf of the foundation. It’s letting everyone who shows up and all of our supporters know this is the impact we’re able to provide these organizations. That part of it is getting bigger and better.”

This year’s golf tournament was the second for the foundation since Turner left the Dodgers in free agency.

“I’ve talked about it the last few years, how great my nine years as a Dodger were and all the great memories, all the things we got to do. Kourt and I grew up, got married, started the foundation, started all these events as Dodgers,” he said.

“If it wasn’t for the city of L.A., and all the love and support we’ve gotten over those years, we probably wouldn’t be here today. We’re going to keep continuing to have events to raise money, raise awareness and always continue to give back to the great city of Los Angeles.”

Having long established themselves in the community, the Turners are grateful for continued support from Los Angeles and though aware of the impact they’ve been able to make, their focus is on continuing to provide for those in need.

“I think we haven’t fully taken the time to reflect, but we were talking [Sunday] night with Pastor Matthew from the Dream Center and thinking back to the COVID year, the food line and starting the food bank, and starting to really process how that legacy started and how it’s continuing to make an impact every day,” Kourtney said.

“If we keep going we don’t have time to reflect on the impact, but there are little moments along the way where we’re like, ‘Wow, this has really come a long way.”

Dodgers at Justin Turner Golf Classic

Mookie Betts, Tony Gonsolin, Chris Taylor and Chris Woodward were among those from the Dodgers organization who participated in Turner’s golf tournament.

So too did SportsNet LA host John Hartung and analysts Eric Karros, Jerry Hairston Jr. and James Loney.

Ryan Pepiot, Corey Seager and Jonny DeLuca were former Dodgers on hand to support the Turners.
