The Los Angeles Dodgers and Toronto Blue Jays are officially set to play in the 2025 World Series that begins Friday with Game 1 at Dodger Stadium.
The Dodgers are back in the Fall Classic for a second consecutive year after sweeping the Milwaukee Brewers in the National League Championship Series. L.A. began their postseason run by sweeping the Cincinnati Reds in the Wild Card Series and eliminating the Philadelphia Phillies in four games in the NL Division Series.
Meanwhile, the Blue Jays are making their third World Series appearance in franchise history. They played for the commissioner’s trophy in both 1992 and 1993, and captured back-to-back titles by defeating the Atlanta Braves and Philadelphia Phillies, respectively.
Toronto went into the postseason as the No. 1 seed in the American League. Their 94-68 record was tied with the New York Yankees, but the Blue Jays held the head-to-head tiebreaker.
After a first-round bye, the Blue Jays began their postseason by defeating the Yankees in the AL Division Series. They then fell into a 2-0 deficit to the Seattle Mariners before mounting a comeback in the ALCS and winning in seven games.
The Blue Jays and Dodgers met for a three-game series at Dodger Stadium from Aug. 8-10, which saw L.A. win two of the contests. However, the Dodgers finished with 93 wins this season and thus do not have home-field advantage in the World Series.
The World Series starts at Rogers Centre on Friday, and shifts to Dodger Stadium for Games 3 and 4, and a fifth matchup if necessary.
All World Series games will air on Fox and Fox Deportes and start at 5 p.m. PT. Fox will begin their World Series coverage with a pregame show at 4 p.m.
