Following the Los Angeles Dodgers placing Tyler Glasnow on the 15-day injured list, Major League Baseball announced Hunter Greene of the Cincinnati Reds replaced him on the National League roster for the 2024 All-Star Game.

Glasnow is dealing with a lower back issue that is believed to be minor. It happened on Sunday while Glasnow was playing catch, so the Dodgers are hoping to get ahead of the issue, rather than letting it linger.

This is the first time in Glasnow’s career he’s been put on the injured list because of back trouble. The 30-year-old previously has dealt with right forearm, right elbow and left oblique injuries.

Glasnow was set to appear in his first All-Star Game, and it represented a great story with it coming for his hometown team. However, the right-hander is now forced to miss the Midsummer Classic at Globe Life Field.

Glasnow was honored by the selection, and he was happy he had been able to stay off the injured list up until this point.

The right-hander is just 11 innings shy of tying a career-high that he set last season with 120.

Overall on the year, he owns a 3.47 ERA and 2.77 FIP in 109 innings while striking out 143 batters, walking 29 and giving up a .182 average against and 0.93 WHIP.

Hunter Greene chosen over Gavin Stone

MLB selected Greene to replace Glasnow, making Gavin Stone a snub once again. Stone can still get in as a replacement leading up to the game, but he is more than worthy of the honor.

Greene is still having a nice season, posting a 3.45 ERA in 104.1 innings with a 3.67 FIP, .201 average against, 1.14 WHIP, 26.7% strikeout rate and a 9.9% walk rate.

Like Glasnow, Greene is also Southern California Native, only he went to Notre Dame High School rather than Hart High School.

As for Stone, he’s pitched to a 3.03 ERA, 3.51 FIP, .235 average against, 1.20 WHIP, 19.3% strikeout rate and a 7.4% walk rate in 92 innings. His best option may be replacing Atlanta Braves’ starter Chris Sale, who will be ruled out from the game after he pitches on Sunday.
