With the MLB lockout leading to canceled games that have been rescheduled for later dates and in some cases a split doubleheader, the Los Angeles Dodgers are not beginning the 2022 regular season at Dodger Stadium.

While the initial 2022 Dodgers schedule called for a March 31 Opening Day matchup with the Colorado Rockies, their first home game instead is not coming until Thursday, April 14. And though the Dodger Stadium opener historically is an afternoon start, first pitch against the Cincinnati Reds is set for 7:10 p.m. PT.

The following night marks the 75th anniversary of Jackie Robinson Day in recognition of his MLB debut with the Brooklyn Dodgers.

The Dodgers and Reds split six head-to-head meetings last season, with Cincinnati taking two of three at Dodger Stadium. At the conclusion of their four-game set, L.A. will host the Atlanta Braves for three games, marking their first rematch of the 2021 NL Championship Series.

It of course now has an added layer of intrigue as Freddie Freeman is signing a six-year, $162 million contract with the Dodgers.

Rescheduled Dodgers games

MLB canceling the first week of the regular season removed games against the Rockies (March 31-April 3) and series with the Arizona Diamondbacks (April 4-6) from the 2022 Dodgers schedule.

Games with the Rockies have been rescheduled at Dodger Stadium on July 6 and from Oct. 3-5. July 6 was an off day for the Dodgers, but that instead marks the end of what now is a three-game series with Colorado.

The changes also have the Dodgers finishing the 2022 regular season with a six-game homestand against the Rockies.

Meanwhile, games from the April series against the Diamondbacks were rescheduled for home dates on May 17 and from Sept. 19-20. That amounts to a doubleheader against the Diamondbacks on both May 17 and Sept. 20.

First pitch for both split doubleheaders at Dodger Stadium is 12:10 p.m. PT, with the nightcap to follow at a 7:10 p.m. start time.
