The 2021 MLB All-Star Game cap and jersey were unveiled for all 30 teams, and with it comes change for this year’s exhibition at Coors Field. It’s a second such occurrence for the All-Star Game as it previously was moved from Truist Park to Colorado.

Regardless of whether a member of the National League or American League roster, every All-Star will be outfitted in a navy cap with their team’s logo on it. Behind the team logo is a purple star with a mountain peak to represent the All-Star Game being hosted by the Colorado Rockies.

As for the jerseys, they still appear to have been the primary design created when the 91st Midsummer Classic was due to be hosted by the Atlanta Braves. NL All-Stars will don the two-button look in white, while AL players will wear blue.

The batting-practice style jerseys feature a floral pattern in the cuff, 2021 All-Star Game patch on the left sleeve and United States of America flag on the right. Down the left side on the front of the jersey is the league’s abbreviations for each club and an oversized logo.

Meanwhile, the back of the jerseys will include stars under each player’s name to represent their number of career appearances in the event.

While some took umbrage with the design of the All-Star Game caps, most of the criticism involved with the unveiling centered around the jerseys. Particularly with MLB breaking from their long-held tradition of players wearing their team’s jersey in the All-Star Game.

In prior years, MLB has only outfitted players in an alternate jersey for the Home Run Derby and All-Star Game Workout Day.

Traditional caps with an All-Star Game logo are still part of the equation, and they will be worn during the Derby and workouts.

The 2021 MLB All-Star Game is scheduled for Tuesday, July 13. It will air live on Fox, with first pitch scheduled for 4:05 p.m. PT.

Dodgers in All-Star Game voting

Phase 1 of All-Star Game voting ended Thursday and as of the most recent update early in the week, the Los Angeles Dodgers were tracking to have Max Muncy start at third base.

The Dodgers also were represented on the ballot by Will Smith (fourth place), Gavin Lux (third), Justin Turner (third), Corey Seager (third), Mookie Betts (fourth) and Chris Taylor (fifth).
