The Los Angeles Dodgers’ bats struggled for a couple of nights, leading to a 2-0 series deficit to the Atlanta Braves in the National League Championship Series.

They broke out a bit at the end of the loss in Game 2, and carried that momentum into the following day as they had one of the biggest offensive outbursts in MLB postseason history, cruising to a 15-3 victory to get back in the series.

It didn’t take long for the Dodgers to break through in Game 3 as they scored early and often, pushing across 11 runs in the first inning. It set MLB record for most runs scored in a single inning of a postseason game.

Mookie Betts got it started with an infield single to lead off the game, and then Corey Seager followed with an RBI double. The Dodgers wound up hitting three home runs in the frame, with Joc Pederson’s three-run shot being the first. Edwin Rios then hit the next pitch out to go back-to-back before Max Muncy capped it off with a grand slam in his second at-bat of the inning.

L.A. additionally tied an MLB postseason record with 16 hits and finished with the best differential for a final score (12).

Dodgers set franchise record for most home runs in postseason game

The record-breaking night for the Dodgers continued past the first inning as they hit two more home runs to give them five on the night, which is the most in a postseason game in franchise history.

Cody Bellinger helped contribute to that record with a solo shot to lead off the second inning, and then Seager broke it with a solo shot in the third. Both are swinging hot bats over the last two nights, which is a welcomed sight for the Dodgers.

Dodgers set franchise postseason record for most runs

The final franchise record the Dodgers broke on the night was scoring 15 runs, which they had never done in a postseason game. Ironically, all of those were scored in the first three innings, although that was obviously more than enough to get the job done in the victory.
