2020 Dodgers NLCS Roster: Edwin Rios Returns, Alex Wood Added

The Los Angeles Dodgers unveiled their postseason roster for the National League Championship Series, electing to carry 15 pitchers and 13 position players. Edwin Rios is back on after missing the NL Division Series due to a groin injury, and Alex Wood was added as well.

Removed from the active roster were Gavin Lux and Terrance Gore. Lux seemingly replaced Rios for the NLDS, and Gore had been included in each of the first two rounds as a pinch-runner option. Gore didn’t appear in a postseason game, while Lux made a pinch-hit appearance in Game 3 of the NLDS.

Dodgers manager Dave Roberts suggested Rios was likely going to return, and he hinted at a change in the bullpen to combat against potentially playing seven games in as many days. Although Rios is again active, he figures to be limited in the early going of the NLCS.

“He’s taking batting practice here shortly and then he’s going to take some at-bats live off pitchers. That will be a little bit more telling, but to think he’s anything more than a pinch-hitter in the first couple days would probably be aggressive,” Roberts said Sunday.

Wood made just two starts this season — one at the beginning of the campaign before a lengthy stint on the 10-day injured list because shoulder inflammation. Wood’s second start was as an opener, and he’ll continue serving as an option out of the bullpen.

Dodgers postseason roster for NLCS (listed alphabetically in roles players held during regular season)

Relief pitchers: Pedro Baez, Dylan Floro, Victor Gonzalez, Brusdar Graterol, Kenley Jansen, Joe Kelly, Adam Kolarek, Jake McGee, Blake Treinen, Alex Wood

Catchers: Austin Barnes, Will Smith

Infielders: Matt Beaty, Kiké Hernandez, Max Muncy, Edwin Rios, Corey Seager, Chris Taylor, Justin Turner
