While the Los Angeles Dodgers have recently welcomed back Clayton Kershaw and Mookie Betts, and expect to activate Tommy Edman and Max Muncy on Monday, they also have incurred new injuries along the way.

Freddie Freeman suffered a jammed right middle finger during Saturday’s game against the St. Louis Cardinals and wasn’t available for the series finale at Busch Stadium because the swelling had worsened. Freeman is scheduled to undergo a CT scan on Monday and it’s plausible he winds up on the 10-day injured list.

As the Dodgers get set to begin a nine-game homestand, Freeman may be accompanied on the IL by Austin Barnes.

According to David Vassegh of AM 570 L.A. Sports, Hunter Feduccia is going to be with the Dodgers as a possible option to replace Barnes, who has a toe issue:

Despite Barnes taking the foul ball off his left foot in the third inning, he played the entirety of the game. Barnes went 0-for-3 with one walk in the Dodgers’ 2-1 win.

Barnes has fallen into a bit of a slump after a productive May and July. Overall this season he’s batting .241/.318/.284 with two doubles, one home run and eight RBI in 44 games.

Hunter Feduccia’s Dodgers stats

As one of multiple catcher prospects in the Dodgers farm system, Feduccia hasn’t yet received much of an opportunity at the big league level.

He was recalled at the end of July when Freeman went on the family emergency list, but appeared in just one game prior to getting optioned back to Triple-A Oklahoma City to make room for Kevin Kiermaier on the Dodgers roster.
