The Cleveland Guardians and Los Angeles Dodgers are going to brave the weather in their series finale at Dodger Stadium, where the temperature is expected to exceed 100 degrees amid a Southern California heat wave.

The hottest game in Dodger Stadium history was Game 1 of the 2017 World Series, when it was 103 degrees at first pitch. Sunday’s forecast could see the rubber match with the Guardians tie that record.

Jack Flaherty takes the mound for his 25th start of the season and seventh with the Dodgers. He’s 4-1 with a 3.18 ERA and 1.29 WHIP since being traded to the Dodgers.

Flaherty has helped provide stability for a starting rotation that’s remained in flux throughout the season. Los Angeles currently is without Tyler Glasnow, Yoshinobu Yamamoto and Clayton Kershaw due to respective injuries. However, Yamamoto is scheduled to be activated off the 60-day injured list on Tuesday.

Flaherty has completed at least five innings in every start for the Dodgers, and is coming off holding the Arizona Diamondbacks to just one run at Chase Field last week.

The Guardians counter with Tanner Bibee, who has led their staff with an 11-6 record and 3.56 ERA this season. Bibee likewise allowed just one run in his last start, but prior to that gave up five and four runs in back-to-back outings.

Teoscar Hernández is out of the lineup once again with Andy Pages replacing him in left field. Miguel Rojas also gets a day off, which earns Kevin Kiermaier a start in center field as Tommy Edman slides in to play shortstop.

Mookie Betts enters play on a seven-game hitting streak and he’s reached base safely 13 in row.

Prior to the game the Dodgers selected the contract of Nick Ramirez from Triple-A Oklahoma City. Justin Wrobleski was optioned and Michael Petersen was designated for assignment as the corresponding roster moves.
