After a 4-2 road trip, the Los Angeles Dodgers are back home for the start of a three-game series against the Cleveland Guardians.
The Dodgers enter play with the best record in the Majors at 84-56 and a 4.5-game lead over the San Diego Padres in the National League West.
The Guardians, at 80-60, also hold a 4.5-game lead over the Minnesota Twins and Kansas City Royals in the American League Central.
Prior to first pitch, the Dodgers recalled Landon Knack and optioned Michael Petersen to Triple-A Oklahoma City. In addition, Gavin Stone was placed on the 15-day injured list with Justin Wrobleski joining the team again.
Knack’s sixth stint with the Dodgers this season will begin with a spot start against the Guardians. He originally joined the team for the Seoul Series in March but did not pitch against the San Diego Padres.
Knack was again recalled in the middle of April, which saw him make his MLB debut. The right-hander is 2-2 with a 3.00 ERA and 1.00 WHIP in 10 games (eight starts) for the Dodgers this season.
While with Triple-A Oklahoma City throughout the year, Knack has gone 4-3 with a 3.71 ERA across 14 games (12 starts).
The Guardians counter with Matthew Boyd, who is making just his fifth start of the season. He has been effective so far, allowing three runs or fewer in all of his outings.
In his last start against the Pittsburgh Pirates, Boyd allowed just one run on four hits and collected eight strikeouts over six innings of work.
The left-hander is 1-1 with a 2.38 ERA, 3.23 FIP and 0.84 WHIP in 22.2 innings pitched at the big league this season.
