The Los Angeles Dodgers have suffered back-to-back losses and now look to avoid dropping their series against the Cleveland Guardians.
Ryan Brasier is making his second start of the season and 23rd overall appearance. He’s gone 1-0 with a 3.38 ERA and 0.84 WHIP thus far. The starts this season are Brasier’s first since 2020.
Justin Wrobleski figures to factor into the Dodgers’ pitching plans as well because of Gavin Stone being put on the 15-day injured list Friday due to right shoulder inflammation. Stone had been the only member of the Dodgers’ Opening Day rotation to make every turn this season and avoid the injured list.
Now the Dodgers are holding out hope he’ll recover in time to not only pitch again during the regular season but playoffs as well.
Wrobleski’s start is his second this month as the rookie was recalled from Triple-A Oklahoma City on the first day active rosters expanded. Wrobleski endured a rough outing as he allowed 10 runs on 10 hits to the Arizona Diamondbacks over 5.1 innings pitched at Chase Field.
In six starts for the Dodgers this season, the left-hander is 1-2 with a 6.82 ERA and 1.38 WHIP. Wrobleski is among multiple Dodgers prospects who have made their respective MLB debut this year.
The Guardians counter with Gavin Williams, who has endured a rough season in his own right. Williams enters 3-7 with a 4.55 ERA and 1.30 WHIP across 12 starts.
However, the right-hander did hold the Kansas City Royals to just one run over seven innings last week. Williams has held opponents to three earned runs or fewer in four of his past five starts.
Andy Pages is in the Dodgers lineup for Teoscar Hernández, who sustained a left foot contusion on Friday as a result of being hit by a pitch. The start is Pages’ first since he was recalled when active rosters expanded on Sept. 1.
