The Los Angeles Dodgers take the field Tuesday with a chance to sweep the San Francisco Giants and extend their winning streak to five games. L.A. also looks to finish their homestand with a 5-1 record before they travel to the East Coast for an eight-game road trip.

Walker Buehler takes the mound and tries to bounce back from being on the wrong side of a no-hitter against the Chicago Cubs. He notched a quality start in allowing three runs over six innings of work but took his first loss since Sept. 21, 2019.

The defeat ended Buehler’s unbeaten streak at 23 consecutive regular-season games, which is tied with Kirby Higbe for the longest such stretch in Dodgers franchise history. The right-hander nonetheless has another streak going as he has logged at least six innings in all 15 of his starts this season.

Buehler enters with an overall 7-1 record, 2.51 ERA, 3.69 FIP and 0.92 WHIP in 96.2 innings pitched. He’s faced the Giants twice this year, and in those starts, allowed three runs (two earned) across 13 frames. Buehler owns a perfect 5-0 record with a 2.51 ERA and 1.21 WHIP in nine career games (seven starts) against San Francisco.

The Giants counter with Kevin Gausman, who is in the midst of a career season. He brings with him into Tuesday’s start an 8-1 record, 1.49 ERA, 2.39 FIP and 0.77 WHIP over 96.2 innings this season (15 starts).

In his lone start against the Dodgers on May 30, Gausman allowed just two hits over six shutout innings with seven strikeouts. “Obviously it’s going to be a tough one,” Mookie Betts said of facing Gausman in the series finale.

“He’s one of the best right now. You know he’s going to come out with some adrenaline and be ready to go, so we’ll have to figure out a way.”
