Gavin Lux & Max Muncy Expected To Travel With Dodgers To South Korea

Gavin Lux and Max Muncy did not play in the Los Angeles Dodgers’ penultimate Cactus League game against the San Francisco Giants on Tuesday due to being under the weather.

Lux was in the Dodgers lineup on Sunday and Monday, which made him unlikely to play anyhow. Meanwhile, Muncy has not played since Saturday against the Texas Rangers.

The Dodgers are trying to contain the illness from spreading to the rest of the roster, which is imperative considering the team will soon be traveling to South Korea.

Fortunately for Lux and Muncy, they are feeling significantly better and are expected to travel with the Dodgers to South Korea for the Seoul Series, per Bill Plunkett of the Southern California News Group:

Roberts said Muncy and Lux seem to be “on the other side” of the illness and could play in Wednesday’s final Cactus League game. Both are still expected to make the trip to South Korea.

Lux was back in the Dodgers lineup for their final Cactus League game on Wednesday, but Muncy remained out. Even with some of the time missed, Muncy would have an opportunity to play in more exhibition games ahead of the regular season starting as the Dodgers are due to face the Kiwoom Heroes and Korean National team.

The team’s chartered flight to South Korea departs Thursday morning and lands in Seoul on March 15. L.A. is scheduled to have a workout that evening.

Dave Roberts hopes Dodgers players embrace Seoul Series

While the Seoul Series is another milestone for MLB in their quest to expand internationally, the earlier start to the season means the Dodgers are dealing with a shortened Spring Training timeline. That could pose an issue as players try to build up for the grueling demands of a 162-game schedule.

Despite these concerns, Dodgers manager Dave Roberts wants his players to embrace the earlier start to the regular season. “I hope their mindset is to be excited, looking forward to it. There’s no downside in that,” he began.

“So I’m sure that it’s different. It’s out of our routines, but I think I’m excited about it. And I hope our players are excited about it. We’re playing two games that matter. And like I said, there’s nothing we can do about it, so you better look forward to it.”
