After reuniting with Walker Buehler at Fenway Park late last month, the Los Angeles Dodgers faced Gavin Lux during their three-game series against the Cincinnati Reds as part of the road trip as well.
It represented Lux’s first regular-season games against the team that selected him with the 20th overall pick in the 2016 MLB Draft. Lux spent parts of six seasons with the Dodgers before getting traded to the Reds at the beginning of the year.
While the Dodgers were able to catch up with Lux in Cincinnati, he did not receive his 2024 World Series ring. That will instead happen when the Reds play at Dodger Stadium this week.
During an appearance on “Dodger Talk” with David Vassegh, Lux said he understands the significance of getting his 2024 Dodgers World Series ring in front of home fans and is looking forward to it:
“I’m excited to get it whenever I get it. I saw all the pictures and video, and think they did a great job with it. It looks sick, man. How it pops open, it’s got Dodger Stadium on the inside, and all the little details that they did with it, I’m excited to get it whenever it is. I think doing it in L.A. is cooler than doing it in Cincy, just based off we won a World Series there. I’m excited to get it there.”
Lux is set to join Buehler, Jack Flaherty, Ryan Brasier, Brent Honeywell, Clayton McCullough, Daniel Hudson, Ryan Yarbrough, Joe Kelly and Miguel Vargas as former Dodgers to receive their 2024 World Series ring after departing the organization this past offseason.
Although he battled through inconsistency at times, Lux ended his tenure with the Dodgers on a high note as he contributed a game-tying sacrifice fly in the eighth inning of Game 5 of the World Series.
The Dodgers’ decision to trade Lux stemmed in part from alleviating a logjam after they signed Hyeseong Kim to a multi-year contract.
The 27-year-old has benefited from a more established role with the Reds and has been entrusted with a leadership role as a two-time World Series champion.
Gavin Lux had ‘butterflies’ playing Dodgers
Lux went 2-for-10 with one RBI, two runs scored and three walks in three games against the Dodgers at Great America Ball Park. In the same interview for AM 570, he admitted to experiencing nervous feelings that were similar to the Dodgers’ World Series run last October
