Freddie Freeman Expects ‘Awesome’ East Coast Road Trip

With the 2026 MLB All-Star Game now in the books, the Los Angeles Dodgers shift their focus to the unofficial second half of the regular season.

The team resumes play on Friday for the start of a three-game series against the New York Yankees at Yankee Stadium. It marks L.A.’s first trip to The Bronx since their clinching Game 5 win in the 2024 World Series. Freddie Freeman of course has fond memories of that as he swung a hot bat en route to earning World Series MVP honors.

The Dodgers will then return to the City of Brotherly Love for three matchups with the Philadelphia Phillies before ending their road trip with a three-game series against the New York Mets at Citi Field.

“We start with the Yankees, then come back here and go back to New York. So we’ve got a two-week East Coast trip,” Freeman began. “To come out of the break against really, really good baseball teams is going to be awesome. I know the Northeast can be on the players, and we look forward to it.

“It’s a great atmosphere, great teams. We’ll be back here soon. Can’t wait.”

Freeman was among the Dodgers players who participated in the 96th Midsummer Classic on Tuesday, which saw the American League earn a 4-0 win over the National League. The 36-year-old went 0-for-2 with a walk in what was his 10th career All-Star Game appearance.

Freeman has always enjoyed playing at Citizens Bank Park dating back to his time with the Atlanta Braves, even if that means getting booed by Phillies fans.

“Like I’ve been these last two days, when I first came up with the Braves, this was my favorite place to play,” Freeman said. “I love the Bank. It wasn’t fun to play at because it was (Roy) Halladay, (Cole) Hamels and (Cliff) Lee every time when we were playing against them, but it was packed every night.

“It’s a great place to play, great city, even on the red carpet they were pretty nice. I don’t know if they’re going to be nice when we come back next week, but overall it was a great experience. Family had fun and great city.”

Freddie Freeman enjoyed All-Star Game tribute

One of the most memorable moments from the 2026 All-Star Game came during a break in the action, when the United States’ 250th anniversary and iconic baseball film “The Sandlot” were simultaneously celebrated.

Prior to the start of the fifth inning, Ray Charles’ rendition of “America the Beautiful” played on the video board at Citizens Bank Park as fireworks lit up the sky. While that was happening, a group of children rode bicycles onto the field in what was a clear nod to the legendary movie.

Freeman helped create an unforgettable experience when he played catch with one of the kids during the tribute.
