Former Dodgers Relief Pitcher Yefry Ramírez Signs With Hanwha Eagles Of KBO

Former Los Angeles Dodgers relief pitcher Yefry Ramírez has left the organization to sign a contract with the KBO’s Hanwha Eagles. Per multiple reports, he will earn $600,000 for the remainder of the 2022 season.

It is unclear if the Dodgers and Eagles reached a buyout on Ramírez’s Minor League contract, or if the right-hander exercised an opt-out clause.

Ramírez began the 2022 season with Triple-A Oklahoma City and appeared in eight games, going 2-1 with a 3.76 ERA and 1.13 WHIP over 40.2 innings pitched (seven starts).

Ramírez earned Pacific Coast League Pitcher of the Week honors for May 9-15 after allowing just three singles and collecting eight strikeouts over a complete-game shutout against Triple-A Round Rock (Texas Rangers affiliate).

Ramírez’s start was Oklahoma City’s first nine-inning shutout in four years and it was the team’s largest shutout win in their Bricktown era (since 1998).

Ramírez briefly was up with the Dodgers last season, throwing two scoreless innings against the Arizona Diamondbacks on Aug. 1. Prior to that appearance he last had been in the Majors with the Pittsburgh Pirates during the 2019 season.

The Dodgers designated Ramírez for assignment when Cole Hamels was signed last year, but he cleared waivers and was sent outright to Oklahoma City. Ramírez then became a free agent during the offseason and re-signed on a Minor League contract.

Greene leaves Dodgers for Yankees

Ramírez is the second Dodgers relief pitcher to depart the organization in the past week as Shane Greene signed a Minor League contract with the New York Yankees.

Greene threw two scoreless innings in his only appearance with the Dodgers this season before getting DFA’d to make room for David Price on the active and 40-man rosters.
