FOCO is selling a new Mookie Betts Team USA bobblehead as part of its limited-edition collection of 2023 World Baseball Classic memorabilia.
Also available are bobbleheads for additional players on the current Team USA roster, along with legends Andy Pettitte and Ken Griffey Jr. The World Baseball Classic collection also features general bobbleheads for participating countries and commemorative baseballs.
The Betts bobblehead is dressed in a No. 3 Team USA uniform and set atop a WBC-themed base. The platform features the 2023 World Baseball Classic logo, Betts’ full name and United States of America Flag.
Betts is among several Los Angeles Dodgers participating in the international tournament, but that group no longer includes Clayton Kershaw and Miguel Rojas.
Kershaw withdrew from the Team USA roster due to a reported issue of not obtaining an insurance policy, and Rojas is no longer joining Team Venezuela because of preferring to focus on his new opportunity with the Dodgers to be their starting shortstop in the wake of Gavin Lux suffering a torn ACL.
Meanwhile, the likes of Betts, Freddie Freeman, David Peralta and Will Smith are going to be among those leaving Dodgers Spring Training camp next week. The WBC begins Tuesday, March 7, but Team USA doesn’t play their first game until Saturday, March 11.
Mookie Betts playing second base
Both because of his interest and depth in the outfield, Betts is expected to see some time at second base while with Team USA.
The Dodgers are helping him prepare for that opportunity by giving the six-time All-Star occasional starts at the position during Spring Training, with his first coming Friday against the Los Angeles Angels.
