The Los Angeles Dodgers are well represented at the 2025 ESPY Awards that take place Wednesday night at The Dolby Theatre, with Shohei Ohtani and Freddie Freeman nominated in multiple categories.

The Dodgers are also among the nominees for Best Team, which encompasses championship winners across the major sports leagues and college athletics. That includes the NFL, NBA, WNBA, NHL, NCAA Football, USWNT, NCAA Women’s Lacrosse and more.

Ohtani was nominated for Best Athlete in the Men’s Sports category. Josh Allen of the Buffalo Bills, Saquon Barkley of the Philadelphia Eagles, and Shai Gilgeous-Alexander of the Oklahoma City Thunder are also up for the award.

The two-way Dodgers star was nominated for the award last year as well and finished as the runner-up, with the honor going to Kansas City Chiefs quarterback Patrick Mahomes. If Ohtani takes home the award this year he will join LeBron James, Lance Armstrong, Tiger Woods and Mahomes as the only athletes to win “Best Athlete, Men’s Sports” multiple times at the annual ESPYS.

Freeman is nominated for Best Championship Performance as the result of his 2024 World Series MVP Award. Simone Biles’ performance in the 2024 Olympics, Steph Curry for the US Men’s Olympic Basketball Team in the Gold Medal game of the 2024 Olympics, and Rory McIlroy winning his first Masters title are also in consideration.

Ohtani and Freeman are also both in consideration for Best MLB Player, along with Tarik Skubal and Aaron Judge. Ohtani was nominated for the award last year as well and, in fact, has won it each of the past four years.

Freeman is going to be in attendance.

How to watch The ESPYS 2025

The awards show is scheduled to air live at 5 p.m. on ABC. Comedian Shane Gillis is hosting the ESPYS for the first time. The ESPYS will also be available to stream on-demand the next day on Disney+, Hulu and ESPN+.

The star-studded ceremony is going relive the best moments from last year, honor leading athletes and performances, and bring together the sports industry’s fan favorites and biggest stars.

Each year The ESPYS help raise awareness and funds for the V Foundation for Cancer Research, the charity founded by ESPN and late basketball coach Jim Valvano.
