ESPN To Televise May 6 Dodgers-Padres Game From Estadio De Beisbol in Monterrey, Mexico

As Major League Baseball continues to look for ways to expand globally, the Los Angeles Dodgers and San Diego Padres will be playing a series at Estadio de Beisbol in Monterrey, Mexico, from May 4-6, 2018.

The international visit is a first for the Dodgers since they faced the Arizona Diamondbacks in Sydney, Australia, for the Opening Series of the 2014 season. Los Angeles will also be returning to Monterrey for the first time since 1991, when they played a two-game exhibition series.

The Dodgers have a pair of players with ties to Mexico in Alex Verdugo and Julio Urias, who is currently out with a shoulder injury.

Even though he won’t be able to play, Urias will likely make the trip to Mexico with his teammates and celebrate the special series with his family. It is possible that Verdugo is on the Dodgers active roster come May, but it is more plausible that he will be playing for Triple-A Oklahoma City.

The third and final game of the series on Sunday, May 6, has been picked up by ESPN, as they will televise the 1 p.m. PT game. Their broadcast will be blacked out in the city of Los Angeles, however, as SportsNet LA will also be televising the game.

Adnan Virk will be on the call for ESPN, and joining him will be analyst Eduardo Perez. ESPN previously announced the Dodgers’ April 22 game against the Washington Nationals was selected for their weekly Sunday Night Baseball telecast, which does not come with local blackout restrictions.
