Jared Karros and Kyle Karros, the two sons of Eric Karros, enjoyed a great family moment on Thursday as they exchanged lineup cards before first pitch between the Los Angeles Dodgers and Colorado Rockies at Salt River Fields.
It marked a second year in a row the Karros family got to witness such an exchange, as Eric did so with Kyle last spring. That was similar to the time Dodgers manager Dave Roberts did so with Cole Roberts, while his son was a Minor Leaguer in the Arizona Diamondbacks organization.
Also last spring, former Los Angeles Angels manager Phil Nevin and his son Kyle Nevin did the lineup card exchange.

“It’s great. I think baseball is unique in the sense of the family component, the possibilities to do something like this,” Roberts said of the Karros brothers.
“I had my son take the lineup card last year when Torey Lovullo allowed my son to do that. To obviously have two brothers face each other, we did this the other day with the McLains. I had Matt in the lineup so he could play against his brother.
“And so Eric, obviously, being a great Dodger, being in town right now, is great. And so it’s going to be a good moment.”
SportsNet LA cameras showed Eric Karros watching from the concrouse when Jared entered in the fourth inning. The right-hander struck out two batters in his scoreless inning of work.
Jared did not get to face Kyle, who wasn’t inserted until later in the game.

“I would say more on the anxious side,” Roberts said of Eric Karros’ demeanor as a father of baseball players. “It’s funny. I’ve talked to him, and I think I feel this way as a dad, you’re more nervous for your kid than yourself when you were playing. He certainly fits that description.”
Eric Karros’ sons drafted
Jared and Kyle both attended UCLA, like their father, prior to being drafted by the Dodgers and Rockies, repsectively.
The Dodgers picked Jared in the 16th round of the 2022 MLB Draft, and Kyle was selected by the Rockies in the fifth round in 2023.
