Edwin Díaz Keeping ‘Narco’ As Entrance Song With Dodgers

The Los Angeles Dodgers officially signed and announced Edwin Díaz as the newest member of their organization, landing a potential future Hall of Fame closer to address their bullpen issue.

Díaz is electric on the mound, and he also brings with him one of the most exciting entrances in baseball, headlined with the song “Narco” by Blasterjaxx and Timmy Trumpet. The walk-out song and accompanying theatrics that come with it have been a staple for the New York Mets over the last few seasons, as it signals Diaz’s time to enter the game, likely securing a win.

Now, the sound of trumpets will be blasting at Dodger Stadium in the ninth inning, as Díaz confirmed he will be keeping “Narco” as his entrance song.

“It would be fun, it would be fun,” Díaz said. “I think that music gets the fans into it right away. That’s a nice walk-out song. So I can’t wait for the first game of the season to come in the ninth with Timmy Trumpets and to get the W for the Dodgers.”

But Dodgers fans aren’t the only ones excited to see Díaz enter a game at Dodger Stadium. Tommy Edman also said the Dodgers are “fired up” to have Díaz join them, and they’re also looking forward to seeing him enter the game for the first time.

“I’m excited to see his walkout at Dodger Stadium,” Edman said. “It’s always one of the cool walkouts for an opposing team. So it’ll be pretty awesome to see it here.”

Díaz collected 28 saves to go along with a 1.63 ERA and 98 strikeouts in 66.1 innings for the Mets this past season. He had the second-lowest ERA among relievers with at least 50 innings, trailing only Aroldis Chapman’s 1.17 mark.

When Díaz enters a game, it’s usually game over, and his entrance song signifies that, adding a little extra fear into the opposing team.

“It just adds that little bit of extra intimidation factor,” Edman said. “Getting the crowd all fired up as they hear that song, and everybody knows that it’s his time to come in and shut the hitters down, it definitely adds a little extra to the entrance.”

“Narco” was released in 2017 by Dutch DJ Blasterjaxx and Australian DJ Timmy Trumpet. It reached it’s peak position on the Billboard Hot Dance/Electronic Songs chart at No. 18 on Aug. 26, 2022.

Díaz began using it in 2018 while with the Seattle Mariners, but later changed it after being traded to the Mets. However, he returned to the trumpets for the 2020 season, and it’s stuck since then, gaining its peak popularity during 2022.

Timmy Trumpet attended two games while the Mets hosted the Dodgers on Aug. 30-31, 2022, and played his trumpet portion of the song live as Diaz closed out a 2-1 win for the New York on the second day.
