The third Los Angeles Dodgers Zoom party was again hosted by Joe Davis and Alanna Rizzo, with the broadcasters guiding the hour-long discussion for more than 15,000 fans.
Justin Turner kept his perfect record intact by being among the current players to participate in the chat. He was joined by Matt Beaty, Mookie Betts, Walker Buehler, Gavin Lux and Max Muncy, as well as former Dodgers closer Eric Gagné.
Manager Dave Roberts was also present, even trying his hand at filling the role of reporter by asking Gagné about the mindset he had while amassing his impressive streak of consecutive saves.
The group answered pre-recorded messages from fans, and Dieter Ruehle played music while the chat queued to begin and for the seventh-inning stretch.
While Betts discussing his excitement and nervousness to wear a Dodgers uniform for the first time during the regular season was a highlight, so too were surprise appearances by part-owner Billie Jean King and actor Ken Jeong.
Jeong’s arrival in the party was met by Turner changing his backdrop to a photo of the two. Jeong jokingly thanked Turner for being receptive to his email request, and he went on to proclaim himself as the third baseman’s personal doctor.
Jeong also recalled his time waving a Dodgers flag above the Houston Astros’ dugout prior to Game 7 of the 2017 World Series. It prompted Carlos Correa to throw a cup of water on him, which Jeong largely laughed off and chalked up to being passionate about sports.
Roberts quipped the team should have placed Jeong in the dugout, of course a reference to the Astros’ electronic sign stealing that has since come to light.
Registration is now open for the Dodgers’ fourth Zoom party, set for Monday, May 18, at 6 p.m. PT. It will feature Turner, David Price and Alex Wood, plus several others.
