The Los Angeles Dodgers swept the Milwaukee Brewers to win the 23rd National League pennant in franchise history and now are back in the World Series for a second consecutive year.
It’s also the Dodgers’ third appearance in the Fall Classic over the last six years. They’re looking to become MLB’s first repeat World Series champion since the New York Yankees captured three titles in a row from 1998-2000.
After a middling regular season by their standards, the Dodgers have dominated in the postseason as a Wild Card team. That came after winning the NL West title for the fourth year in a row and 12th time in the past 13 seasons.
The Dodgers hold the longest active MLB postseason streak at 13 consecutive years, which is also tied with the Yankees (1995-2007) for second all-time. The Atlanta Braves hold the longest postseason streak in MLB history at 14 seasons in a row from 1991-2005.
While the Dodgers punched their ticket for the World Series, they await an opponent — either the Seattle Mariners or Toronto Blue Jays. Who L.A. faces for the commissioner’s trophy also is going to determine which team has home-field advantage in the 2025 World Series.
The Blue Jays had the best record during the regular season among teams still in the postseason at 94-68. The Dodgers finished 93-69, just ahead of the Mariners going 90-72. The Dodgers sweeping a series at T-Mobile Park during the final weekend of the season swung home-field advantage for a potential World Series matchup.
