Dodgers Vs. White Sox Game Preview: Teoscar Hernández Back In Lineup With Chance For Sweep

The Los Angeles Dodgers have a chance for their first sweep in nearly a month, and starter Gavin Stone leads the charge as they try and take three of three against the Chicago White Sox.

Stone has been excellent in his official rookie season. In 80 innings over 14 starts, Stone has a 3.04 ERA, 1.200 WHIP and a 131 ERA+. In a season filled with uncertainty in the starting rotation, Stone has provided the Dodgers with some much-needed relief.

The right-hander has also continued to improve even during his already great season. Stone has been working to increase his strikeout stuff, and credited the Dodgers’ pitching coaches for helping him make that happen.

L.A. is 11-3 when Stone takes the mound.

Teoscar Hernández is back in the lineup after missing two games. He was away from the team on Monday and didn’t start Tuesday’s game after flying home due to the death of his grandfather.

The White Sox, meanwhile, have one of their better starters as well in right-hander Erick Fedde. The seventh-year pro is having a massive comeback campaign after spending 2023 overseas. He has a 3.05 ERA and 1.145 WHIP with a 135 ERA+ in 94.1 innings over 16 starts.

The White Sox are 6-10 in his starts, but he holds a 5-2 record given the erratic nature of the team’s bullpen, which has been well-documented throughout the three-game set.

In a series that has already had two surprising pitcher’s duels, Wednesday evening seems to be the easiest bet to be a third in that category. And if the Dodgers can secure the victory, it would be the first sweep since late May against the New York Mets and their sixth sweep of the season.

And with the season nearing the halfway point, every series victory begins to matter a little more. L.A. is catching up to the Philadelphia Phillies in the National League standings, now sitting only three games back of the NL’s top spot.
