The Los Angeles Dodgers (67-45) begin a six-game road trip against National League East opponents with the first of three games against the division-leading Philadelphia Phillies (59-53) on Tuesday. After taking two of three from the Los Angeles Angels, the Dodgers are -155 road favorites on the MLB odds at sportsbooks monitored by OddsShark.com for the opener at the Phillies, who are riding an eight-game winning streak (how the moneyline works).

Philadelphia just swept the New York Mets in a key three-game set last weekend to move ahead of them in the standings by 2.5 games while the Atlanta Braves are now two back. The Phillies will send Aaron Nola (7-6, 4.49 ERA) to the mound to start the series versus Max Scherzer (9-4, 2.75 ERA), and the betting line has already come down in favor of the home team from the opener.

Nola’s team has been very hot lately despite him going winless in his last two trips to the mound, as he has given up seven runs and eight hits in 11 innings with four walks and 12 strikeouts. Philly rallied to win his most recent start 7-6 with four runs in the top of the ninth inning to beat the Washington Nationals on Thursday.

Meanwhile, Scherzer made a solid debut versus the Houston Astros last Wednesday, allowing two runs and five hits in seven innings with one walk and 10 strikeouts. The three-time Cy Young Award winner went 3-0 with a 1.45 ERA in three starts against the Phillies as a member of the Nationals earlier in 2021 before he was traded.

On Wednesday, Los Angeles will start David Price (4-1, 3.53 ERA) in a nationally televised ESPN matchup opposite Kyle Gibson (8-3, 2.79 ERA). In Thursday’s matinee finale, Julio Urias (13-3, 3.41 ERA) is expected to go for the Dodgers, although the starting pitchers for both teams are yet to be confirmed.

These teams have split the past six meetings, with Philadelphia dropping two of three at Chavez Ravine between June 14 and 16. The UNDER also went 3-0 in that series at sports betting sites, and it has gone 6-3-1 in the last 10 games between them as well.
