The Los Angeles Dodgers scratched across an extra-innings win on Wednesday and look to continue their regular season dominance in a final road game of the season. Meanwhile, the San Diego Padres are looking to win their first series against the Dodgers in 2022.

The Dodgers won their 107th game on Wednesday, earning their place as the most-winningest team in franchise history. Their record sits at 107-48, and they are 47-18 in the second half, amounting to a .723 winning percentage during that span.

The Dodgers send Brusdar Graterol to the mound as the opener in the series finale. He will be followed up at some point by Andrew Heaney in a possible look into a postseason role for both pitchers. Graterol has been limited this season after a few stints on the 15-day injured list, and following his return on Sept. 22, has allowed two hits over two scoreless appearances.

Heaney is the wild card in the series finale at Petco Park, mainly in part to his state of flux with recent struggles in allowing hard contact and how he fits on the Dodgers pitching staff for the postseason. Since his home run troubles began in his Aug. 18 start against the Milwaukee Brewers, Heaney has allowed 3.21 homers per nine innings but is also striking out 37.4% of batters faced.

The Padres also are utilizing an opener in Steven Wilson. He’s 4-2 with a 2.88 ERA in 47 games this season, his first in the Majors. Wilson’s start is the first of his career.

The Dodgers went 1-for-9 with runners in scoring position and left 11 on base in Wednesday’s game and will have to improve upon that in the finale if they intend to stop the Padres from winning their first series over them this season.

Trayce Thompson was originally in the Dodgers lineup, but he was scratched due to a personal issue. He was replaced in the lineup by Miguel Vargas.
