The Los Angeles Dodgers had their four-game winning streak snapped with a 5-3 walk-off loss to the San Francisco Giants and now look to get back on track when the teams continue their series on Saturday. The Dodgers are 3-1 on their road trip thus far and have Monday off before beginning a homestand.
Tyler Glasnow takes the mound for what is his 17th start of the season. The right-hander is coming off a dominant outing against the Los Angeles Angels in which he allowed only one run on two hits across seven innings.
After a rough start against the New York Yankees earlier this month, Glasnow has pitched to a 0.64 ERA and 0.43 WHIP with 19 strikeouts over his last two appearances. “The last few have been feeling good,” he said.
“I think the curveball helped me out a lot tonight, just being able to drop it in for strikes and then bounce it later. But every inning tonight felt a lot sharper.”
Glasnow enters at 8-5 with a 2.88 ERA, 2.63 FIP, Major League-leading 0.87 WHIP and 12.2 strikeouts per nine in 100 innings pitched this season. He is 3-0 with a 1.80 ERA and 0.95 WHIP in three career appearances (three starts) against the Giants.
San Francisco counters with Erik Miller, who will serve as the opener of a bullpen game. The rookie owns a 2-2 record, 3.79 ERA, 4.52 FIP, 1.21 WHIP and 10.2 strikeouts per nine in 38 innings pitched (39 games; seven starts).
Miller has allowed three runs in four appearances against the Dodgers this season.
